Create an Editable Poly, Editable Mesh, or spline by quickly attaching selected 3ds Max objects, optionally grouped by material.
Quick Attach is a compact productivity tool for Autodesk 3ds Max that combines multiple selected objects into a single Editable Poly, Editable Mesh, or spline object.
It is designed for scenes containing many separate objects that need to be merged quickly. To reduce memory usage during large operations, Quick Attach processes objects in configurable batches.
Main Features
- Attach all selected objects into one mesh.
- Create an Editable Poly or Editable Mesh result.
- Combine selected splines and shapes.
- Divide selected objects by material.
- Create a separate attached object for each material.
- Include renderable shapes when attaching geometry.
- Configure the maximum number of objects processed in each batch.
- Display operation progress.
- Abort long operations by holding
Escape. - Automatically place the result pivot at the center of its bounding box.
- Specify all editable normals on the selected object.
- Reset all editable normals on the selected object.
- Collapse the Edit Normals modifier after applying a normals operation.
Attach Modes
All in One Mesh
Combines all compatible selected objects into a single result.
Divide by Material
Groups the selected objects by their assigned materials and creates one attached object for each material.
When a material is available, the resulting object is named after that material.
Supported Result Types
- Editable Poly
- Editable Mesh
- Splines / Shapes
When Splines / Shapes is selected, Quick Attach combines valid shape objects using spline welding.
Working with Large Selections
The Objects in one part setting controls how many objects are processed in each intermediate batch.
Reducing this value can help lower memory usage when attaching a very large number of objects. Intermediate results are automatically combined until the final object is produced.
Important: Large attach operations may modify or delete source objects. Save the scene before processing important data.
Normals Tools
Quick Attach includes two additional operations for a single selected geometry object.
Specify
- Converts the selected object to Editable Poly when necessary.
- Adds an Edit Normals modifier.
- Selects and specifies all editable normals.
- Collapses the result.
Reset
- Converts the selected object to Editable Poly when necessary.
- Adds an Edit Normals modifier.
- Selects and resets all editable normals.
- Collapses the result.
Usage
- Select one or more objects in the scene.
- Run Quick Attach from the MaxPkg toolbar or the
MaxPkgcategory. - Choose the required result type.
- Select an attach method.
- Adjust Objects in one part if necessary.
- Enable Include renderable shapes when required.
- Click Attach.
Hold Escape during a long operation to display the abort confirmation dialog.
Installation
Quick Attach is distributed exclusively through MaxPkg.
Install the package using the standard MaxPkg installation workflow. MaxPkg creates the 3ds Max macro button, installs the package icon, manages the runtime files, and handles package updates and removal.
No legacy installer or standalone fallback installation method is included.
