Maxpkg Manager

MaxPkg Manager inside 3ds Max

MaxPkg Manager is the small manager that runs inside 3ds Max.

It gives you a place to search packages, view details, install tools, remove tools, and check what is already installed. It is meant to feel closer to a normal app manager than a folder full of random scripts.

What it can do

Inside 3ds Max, MaxPkg Manager can:

  • show installed packages;
  • search for packages;
  • open package details;
  • install packages from maxpkg.dev;
  • remove installed packages;
  • show version, author, license, compatibility, screenshots, and changelog;
  • keep toolbar buttons organized.

The goal is not to replace 3ds Max. The goal is to make script management less painful.

Toolbar

When MaxPkg Manager is installed, it can create a small toolbar in 3ds Max.

Packages can appear there as buttons, so frequently used tools are easy to launch. You can show or hide package buttons and keep the toolbar tidy.

This is especially useful when you install many small tools. You do not need to remember where every script put its command.

Offline-first behavior

Installed packages remain local.

If the website is not reachable, your installed tools do not disappear. MaxPkg Manager can still scan local packages and run what is already installed.

The online part is used for discovering packages, installing new versions, and checking updates.

Where to get it

If you install a package from the website, MaxPkg Manager can be installed automatically when needed.

You can also install it manually from GitHub:

Download MaxPkg Manager

Unzip it, open 3ds Max, and run install.ms.
