GLB Checker
by   Verified developer: this is a confirmed official developer.  Great Catalog
GLB Checker scans 3ds Max scenes for geometry, material, texture, UV, transform, naming, layer, and Great Catalog delivery issues before GLB export.
GLB Checker helps 3D artists prepare clean and delivery-ready 3ds Max scenes before GLB export.
Run the checker to scan the current scene for common technical problems involving geometry, materials, textures, UV channels, transforms, object names, layers, polygon limits, and Great Catalog variants.
The standard checking process is read-only and does not modify the scene. Results are displayed as clear PASS, WARNING, ISSUE, or N/A statuses, with detailed explanations available in the Log.
Automatic checks
- Groups and unsupported scene objects
- Helpers, lights, cameras, splines, and procedural geometry
- Hidden and frozen objects or layers
- Scale and Reset XForm problems
- Missing or unsupported materials
- V-Ray, Corona, and GLTF material compatibility
- Missing textures and unsupported procedural maps
- Real-World Scale and texture tiling
- UV channels and geometry mapping
- Volume and SSS material settings
- Open edges and possible geometry holes
- Polygon limits
- Duplicate and unsupported names
- Layer organization
- Great Catalog GC variant layers
Corona Normal and V-Ray Normal maps are supported and are not reported as errors.
Great Catalog preset
The included Great Catalog preset enables the checks recommended for Great Catalog assets. Texture Size and Open Edges checks are intentionally disabled for this preset.
The checker also validates populated GC variant layers named using the GC-name format. If no GC variant layers are present, the complete scene is treated as one export.
Fix Issues
The optional Fix Issues action can automatically correct selected problems after user confirmation:
- Ungroup models
- Reset supported Volume and SSS settings
- Delete helpers and lights
- Disable Real-World Scale
- Show hidden objects and layers
- Unfreeze frozen objects and layers
- Move content from non-GC layers to Layer 0
- Remove empty non-GC layers
All automatic fixes are placed into a single Undo step. The model should always be reviewed visually after applying fixes, especially its texture mapping.
Manual review
GLB Checker includes a manual checklist for issues that require an artist's judgment, including flipped polygons, overlapping geometry, pivot placement, model orientation, scene position, Reset XForm, and intentional logo planes.
The checklist includes orientation requirements for the model front direction and the positive Z axis as the upward direction.
Important
GLB Checker is a scene validation tool, not a GLB exporter. A successful automatic check confirms that the configured technical rules passed, but final visual inspection is still required.
Designed for artists who upload assets to marketplaces and need assurance
